Google is making an upgrade to the known Bard into a new AI system called Gemini in order to reflect its more advanced capabilities.
Google is also said to have been introducing a new AI model called Ultra 1.0.

Sissie Hsiao, the Vice President and General Manager of Gemini has shared how people have interacted with the AI since Bard’s launch. She says
“People all over the world have used it to collaborate with AI in a completely new way”,

With Gemini being Google’s most competent and advanced LLM (Large Language Model), it comes in three sizes: Gemini Nano, Gemini Pro and Gemini Ultra. Gemini Pro currently takes on from Google Bard. The different version sizes are capable of different tasks. While Google is offering a free version of Gemini, they are also selling the premium model for $20 a month offering the first two months free trial to encourage users to try it out.

The fuel cells combine with hydrogen (H2) with oxygen (O2) from the air to produce water vapor and generate electricity. In simpler terms, fuel-celled vehicles are a type of hybrid called Fuel-cell Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FCHEV).
With Hydrogen being the most abundant element in the universe, it’s not exactly found in its pure form and is often combined with other elements therefore creating pure hydrogen for vehicles requires a great deal of energy to break the compound which is derived from fossil fuels like natural gas.
With Hydrogen Fuel-cell vehicles having similarities to EVs, there is a unique difference which is that Hydrogen fueled vehicles can be refueled quickly and maintain a consistent driving even with a change in the temperature.

Apple's highly anticipated Vision Pro virtual reality headset has officially hit the market in the U.S., with preordered units now being delivered to customers or available for pick-up at Apple Store locations. Apple CEO Tim Cook marked the release by appearing at the company's flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City on Friday morning.
During an interview with Jim Cramer at the event, Cook addressed the headset's premium price tag, calling it "tomorrow's technology today." The Vision Pro is priced starting at $3,500. Cook highlighted the option for customers to spread payments over time through a monthly financing plan, emphasizing the device's innovation with over 5,000 patents.
"We think we priced it at the right level considering the value of it," Cook stated. He also mentioned the Vision Pro's adoption as an enterprise product, citing companies like Walmart, Nike, Vanguard, Stryker, Bloomberg, and SAP that have already started leveraging and investing in the headset for both customers and workers.
While acknowledging the headset's diverse use cases, Cook believes that Apple can maintain its focus as both a consumer- and enterprise-oriented company with the addition of the Vision Pro to its product lineup. Over 600 apps and games specifically designed for a "spatial computing" experience are available on the headset.

A survey conducted by the Higher Education Policy Institute (Hepi) reveals that more than half of UK undergraduates, numbering over 1,000 participants, acknowledge consulting artificial intelligence programs to aid in their essay-writing endeavors. The study also sheds light on schools experimenting with AI integration in classrooms.
According to Hepi's findings, 53% of undergraduates are utilizing AI to generate content for assignments that contribute to their grades. Among them, one in four students use applications such as Google Bard or ChatGPT to propose topics, while one in eight leverages these tools to create content. Notably, only 5% admit to directly copying and pasting unedited AI-generated text into their assessments.
Educators are also exploring AI applications to streamline their responsibilities. The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) has initiated a research project in secondary schools, investigating AI's potential in generating lesson plans, teaching materials, exams, and model answers.
Dr. Andres Guadamuz, a reader in intellectual property law at the University of Sussex, emphasizes the need for institutions to openly discuss the optimal use of AI as a study tool. He expresses concerns about students being unaware of the potential for inaccuracies in AI-generated content and advocates for educators to address this issue directly.
Guadamuz notes that some students are unaware of how often AI "hallucinates," inventing statistics, academic citations, or book titles to fill perceived gaps. To address this, he suggests establishing clear guidelines, policies, and more challenging assessments. However, he acknowledges the challenges in implementing these changes due to resource constraints and academic workloads.
The EEF's proposal envisions AI as a tool to alleviate teachers' workload burdens and enhance the quality of their teaching. Gillian Keegan, the education secretary, envisions AI handling the "heavy lifting" of tasks such as marking and lesson planning for teachers.
In the EEF's project, 58 schools in England will be involved, with half of them receiving a toolkit to create assessment materials and tailor lessons using AI-generated content. Independent experts will evaluate the effectiveness of AI-generated lesson plans.

Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of the neurotechnology firm Neuralink, has revealed that the inaugural human recipient of the brain-chip implant from the startup is progressing well in their recovery.
The surgical procedure doesn't come as a surprise, as Neuralink received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in September to initiate the first trial of its implant on humans.
In a post on X on Monday, Musk shared, "Initial results show promising neuron spike detection," just a day after the chip was successfully implanted.
Neuron spikes, described by the National Institute of Health as electrical and chemical signals transmitted by cells to convey information within the brain and body, were the focus of Musk's statement. However, specific details were not provided.
Amidst discussions on video games and banter with far-right influencers in subsequent tweets, Musk revealed that Neuralink's inaugural product is named "Telepathy." According to Musk, Telepathy allows control of devices like phones or computers through thought alone. He expressed a vision where individuals who have lost the use of their limbs, such as Stephen Hawking, could communicate more efficiently using Telepathy.
Musk, known for making ambitious promises, acknowledged the milestone but has had a mixed track record in fulfilling such commitments. Notably, he highlighted Neuralink's progress towards its goal of a brain-computer interface.
The first product from Neuralink, as Musk had suggested in 2017, was expected to be on the market "in about four years." Ajay Bhalla, Mastercard's President of the Cyber and Intelligence Business Unit, shared in an exclusive interview that Decision Intelligence Pro is a proprietary recurrent neural network, a pivotal component of generative AI. Developed from scratch by Mastercard's cybersecurity and anti-fraud teams, the advanced AI model employs transformer models to harness the capabilities of generative AI.
Bhalla says, "It's all built in-house, and we've gathered diverse data from the ecosystem. Due to the nature of our business, we receive transaction data, allowing us a comprehensive view."
While Mastercard occasionally utilizes open-source technology, the majority of Decision Intelligence Pro is internally developed. The algorithm is trained on data from approximately 125 billion transactions processed annually through Mastercard's card network.
Unlike large language models such as OpenAI's GPT-4 and Google's Gemini, Mastercard's algorithm focuses on understanding relationships between merchants. By analyzing a cardholder's history of merchant visits, the algorithm predicts potential fraudulent transactions and generates pathways through Mastercard's network, resembling a heat-sensing radar.
The algorithm assesses transactions in just 50 milliseconds, providing a score that reflects the typical behavior expected from the cardholder. According to Bhalla, this technology can enhance financial institutions' fraud detection rates by an average of 20%, with some cases showing improvements up to 300%.
Mastercard, having invested over $7 billion in cybersecurity and AI technologies in the last five years, aims to reduce banks' costs associated with assessing illegitimate transactions by up to 20%. The company believes its algorithm's true potential lies in identifying patterns and trends to predict future types of fraud not currently known within the payments ecosystem.
